The other day I ran across a very interesting quote from Mr. Burt Tansky, president of Nieman Marcus, on the recession we have been facing.

"Don't trade down," says Mr. Tansky, "don't panic, stay focused. Work on customer service and stay true to the history of your brand. In tough times, the customer appreciates that you maintain standards of quality and service."

I am an optimist, and a true believer in Mr. Tansky's ideology. We at Wright and Simon are committed to sustaining our quality of service, and protecting and preserving our brand. Every new season brings new challenges - to better develop and merchandise the various collections and to maintain competitive pricing. An example is our continuing pursuit of better and more varied Made in America collections, working with our suppliers to bring you these products with excellent quality and competitive pricing. 

It is true that the world commodity market in wool, cotton and silk is in a state of volatility with pricing running rampant all over the place. As an example, raw silk alone has increased 40% in price since November 2010. Constant speculation in prices of these commodities will probably continue in the future. This state of world-wide volatility in pricing is not unusual, although this year has been marked by more uncertainty than is normal. But at Wright and Simon we continue our traditional practice of new and better arrangements with suppliers of the brand names you trust and value. 

During this season I invite you to take advantage of our January stock sale where substantial savings are real. As we have always said, "we never mark up to mark down". I feel the value we offer is comparable to that of anyone in the better men’s clothing market. If you prefer you may also wish to try the made-to-measure services in several of our collections. Stock catalogue special orders are another way we can meet your needs and preferences.
